Same bridesmaid dresses, different looking bridesmaids

When you look through your mom’s, aunts or friend’s wedding photos, there are a lot of similarities. There are designer bridal dresses in white, there are grooms and the groomsmen in similar tuxedos and there is bridesmaid in same dresses. Though it may appear to be great, and that too when the dresses of bridesmaid’s are really appealing, but still don’t surpass the bridal dress, but if you look keenly you would observe that maybe one of the bridesmaid is wearing a false smile.



Two men wearing similar outfits are taken as best friends. But, when the same happens to women, it is believed to become the worst enemies for a lifetime. Still, many brides prefer to have their bridesmaids wear similar dresses, without taking into account the uncomfortable feeling that most of the women have when they are wearing exactly the same dress that another woman is wearing, moreover when there is not a single one but five of them. Luckily, being a bride, you can have your bridesmaids wear the same dress but still look different, if you allow them play a little with their look.



Starting with the bridesmaid dress, just because they are the same, doesn’t mean they can’t be altered. To keep a somewhat uniform look ask your friends to not change the neckline, but if they want to take the dresses in to fit better or have them shortened for a nicer effect, they should be allowed to do it, provided they don’t go overboard making the dresses too short or too tight. Talk to your friends before making any alterations and make it a joint task to get every bridesmaid dress just perfect for the particular bridesmaid wearing it.



Bear in mind that just because you’re asking your bridesmaids to wear similar dresses, it in no way means that you ask them to wear the same jewelry and shoes as well. Some women feel better in ballet flats while others can’t live without their high heels, so why not let your friends wear the shoes they feel most comfortable in? It’s really going to be enough if you ask them to wear similar color or if you suggest heel without determining its height. That way not only wills your friends be comfortable, but each bridesmaid will achieve a different look. And as for the jewelry, let the girls express themselves through it the way they do on a daily basis, putting on delicate necklaces, chunky bracelets or funky earrings, whatever they like best.



Ultimately, what’s most important is that nobody else is wearing a white wedding gown but you. Just like you would not prefer to have someone with the same white dress or a similar cut dress as you have, you should consider that your bridesmaids either don’t want to be seen in same dresses. So let them accessorize as they please, consider having them carry different color bouquets, adding colorful belts, scarves or little jackets and don’t interfere with the hair. You’ll see that giving your bridesmaids a bit of freedom will result in great looks and real smiles in your wedding album.
